PERM Motor GmbH joins Schönau-based HEINZMANN Group

 The Schönau-based company Heinzmann GmbH & Co. KG, which recently celebrated its 111th anniversary, is on course for further growth with its acquisition this year of a majority share in PERM Motor GmbH of Breisach, Germany.

This represents an important strengthening of HEINZMANN's Electric Drives division. PERM is the market leader in brushless electric disc motors and in particular has a strong reputation in the up-and-coming light electric vehicles sector. By contrast, HEINZMANN's production of electric motors of the same type is concentrated in industrial \r\n\r\napplications, and the company also manufactures the electronic control units for these motors. PERM's products will therefore be an important strategic addition to the HEINZMANN Group.

PERM is to relocate its manufacturing base to the production hall in Schönau recently acquired by HEINZMANN at the end of 2008. The HEINZMANN Electric Drives division and PERM will then be merged to take advantage of synergies in development, production and purchasing. Production capacity at the Schönau site is currently being expanded to enable it to handle the first larger series production orders for the automotive sector.
