Custom solutions from HEINZMANN
Press article HEINZMANN (september, 2009)
Up to now, HEINZMANN has offered a power range of up to 30 kW for the brushless disc-type motor segment. Now, it is expanding its field of expertise to include new, custom solutions:
SL-EC 120-11 B.C – Combined motor and drive control
In the drive to perfect its range of brushless disc-type motors, as the first step HEINZMANN has combined its SL-EC 120-11 motor, which can deliver up to 0.8 kW, with a drive controller to create a complete functional unit.
Customers had expressed a desire for a compact unit in which the electronically commutated motor was already equipped beforehand with a tried and tested, commercially available controller. The principal reasoning behind this was the wish to lower installation expenditure and reduce the number of different components.HEINZMANN has now succeeded in combining drive systems to form integrated solutions.
SL-EC 80-11B.IC – A step towards the integration of motor control
With this project, HEINZMANN can simultaneously pursue two goals, each of which brings enormous advantages. Firstly, therange of brushless disc-type motors will be expanded and completed at the low power end of the spectrum, to 0.2 kW. At the same time, endeavours to compress the motor control and motor in one compact unit will continue.
To this aim, a common controller from a well-known manufacturer was entirely embedded in the motor housing, merging with it fully to create a self-contained drive solution for a pump. This application has a rated speed of 1200 rpm. However, a variant on this has already reached speeds of up to 6000 rpm. The system is currently showing great promise in trials with speeds of up to 12000 rpm. The version with one-sided stator achieves a torque of max. 0.5 Nm. A more powerful two-sided model is currently in preparation.
At present, the application is optimised for work with one pump, but numerous other applications are conceivable.
SL-EC 120-11 B.I – Integrated inverter from HEINZMANN
As the final step on the road to the integrated combination of brushless disc-type motors with commutation and control, HEINZMANN is now developing its own inverter. This will initially be combined with the SL-EC 120-11B, which delivers a rated speed of up to 0.8 kW. The inverter is being tailored specifically to the characteristics of all the company’s brushless motors, and will offer considerable advantages in terms of optimising their performance. Moreover, it can be limited to the necessities, and so not be cluttered by superfluous functions. As the motor and inverter come from a single source, customers can also enjoy the advantage of minimal size.
